| The easiest and most accurate way to say it is that a MAS measures the mass of the air, which directly relates to the quantity of oxygen the engine is consuming. A MAP system uses pressure, temperature and a lookup table relating to volumetric efficiency of the engine to determine the quantity of air the engine is consuming. The complexity of the system has its shortcomings - namely in thermal creep of the temperature sensor as well as actually tuning it. MAS > MAP^n FWIW, we put down some 1000+ RWHP with a dual-intake MAS setup on Russell Floyd's TT 'vert.
